Services for adults

In adulthood Conductive Education can be applied for individuals who have:

Multiple Sclerosis

Parkinson’s Disease or Parkinsonism

Acquired brain injury

Cerebral Palsy or acquired head injury

Or people who have survived a stroke

During these sessions our participants can expect to be guided through all aspects of learning: cognitive, emotional, social and motor elements are all included in the group sessions. An essential element of our programme is the positive atmosphere to aid with optimum learning. Our participants get to enjoy the benefits of a small group setting, where we set realistic goals and support each individual in acquiring or relearning essential skills. The tasks we teach contain various elements and in general we perform them in lying, sitting, and standing positions.  All of these have their specific goals in addition to the general aims of the full programme.

As we focus on active and conscious learning our participants benefit from gaining confidence to transfer the techniques from one situation to the other. For example the weight bearing tasks they work on in the sessions can be implemented into walking on stairs securely, negotiate obstacles or move around people and  turn in tight spots.

At this point these conditions still wait for a cure. What we CAN offer is an increase in general mobility, learning preventative methods, improving control of movement and increased spatial awareness in addition to the more specific goals we set in partnership with our participants.  We strive to inspire our participants to become problem solvers. As confidence is of key importance to all our lives, and what quality we can live it.
